AT RANDOM was originally founded by members of two bands that had split up, Northwood, with Robert L Hunt, Ken Key, Chris Burnham, Sly Fox and Maxine 's Jon F Anderson and Larry Goodman. After talking and jamming for a while the five decided to get together and create At Random. When the group found it needed a larger crew, Key became the sound engineer and crew manager and Dave Stover was brought in to play drums. At the same time Chris Burnham left the original lineup to focus on a solo effort, and guitarist Dave Laupmanis was added to fill his spot.
The revised At Random, consisted of vocalist songwriter Robert L Hunt, guitarists Larry Goodman and Dave Laupmanis, bass, guitarist, songwriter and vocalist Jon F Anderson, drummer Dave Stover, And sound man/ percussionist Ken Key. The groups “wall of sound” music grew a large following and received significant airplay in the Midwest while regularly headlining at large venues including Harpo’s, Center Stage and Detroit’s Fox Theater.
